Aldebaran PepperThe Japan based Softbank Corporation, in conjunction with Aldebaran, will soon be releasing their new creation, the Aldebaran Pepper Personal Robot. This personal robot has been designed to understand human emotions as its primary function. The Pepper personal robot is a sophisticated looking machine, is capable of many functions that make it autonomous, and is going to be on the market for the general public at a reasonable price.

The Pepper is a humanoid product, meaning that it robot closely resembles a human due to physical characteristics such as its moveable joints and a sleek, high-waisted design. It comes with a head, torso, two arms and two legs that further reflect the human-like design. The Pepper is almost 4 feet tall and 1.5 feet wide. It weighs an impressive 62 pounds and has a total range of approximately 25 degrees of motion. On its chest, there is a 10.1 inch touch screen that connects you to the product. It speaks with a high-pitched and boyish voice, and comes equipped with four microphones (used for vocal recognition), a pair of color video cameras (used for its eyes), 3D sensors, touch and bump sensors, laser and sonar, and a built in Wi-Fi module. Its primary function is to interpret and react to human emotion; luckily its human like appearance and extensive features list makes this an easily accomplished objective.

The Aldebaran Pepper is a personal robot filled with technological advancements. Its communicative skills top the list. Pepper enables communication with people by providing vocal and emotional recognition when it analyzes expressions and vocal tones. For example, it can detect when you are upset or stressed by listening to you, and Pepper will respond by dancing or telling jokes to make you feel better. It learns to better expand this technology through daily interactions, so it is a constantly learning device. The Pepper comes with superior joint technology. It uses the sensors to avoid collisions and its auto-balance feature to prevent itself from falling. It keeps a check of its surroundings by using its head (3 sensors), chest (1 sensor), hands (2 sensors), and legs (13 sensors) which allows constant surveillance of everything around it. The Pepper can also further expand its features and incorporate more applications. It can also access this information from a cloud-based database through an internet connection, which makes the Pepper an expandable information collector. Its battery is a collection of Lithium Ion cells that can hold a 12 hour charge. The 12 hour charge allows for Pepper to gain lots of information and be a very useful product. The technological advancements that the Pepper comes with are extensive and highly useful in today’s fast paced world.

The starting price of the Pepper has been set at $1,900.00. While this price puts the Pepper out of the hands of most households, there is still a very likely chance that it will at least infiltrate high traffic places like hospitals and other social service buildings, so that anyone can see for themselves what the Pepper can do. Another hope for the future is that there will be a price decrease as future models become available allowing average households to be able to afford Pepper for themselves. Granted, the Pepper will be an older model but it will serve the same purposes and you will be able to use it at your leisure. For now, the Pepper is a dream to incorporate technology into daily lives that is slowly becoming a reality.

As an idea and giving a review about this product, it is easy to say that the Pepper is a fine machine that would fit well into any place that it finds itself. The overall opinion of this product is that it will prove to be beneficial to the homes and offices that are associated with being intimate and personal. The Pepper will succeed in hospitals, for example, because it will provide entertainment to the people who are staying in for a while. It would register that a patient is unhappy and would strive to make sure that patient is entertained. Pepper would also do well to entertain guests in someone’s home due to its positive self and ability to communicate with its owner and guests. For example, Pepper could offer a joke or dance to distract guests while you are shifting the tone of an event that you are hosting, which makes Pepper an entertaining companion and co-host of sorts.

Providing some interesting entertainment and being a pleasure to have in any office or home, the Pepper will definitely be a positive talking point as it comes into everyday life. As future models of Pepper come out, it is only expected that the technology will also be better and will also continue to outshine what we currently have today. The Pepper is definitely a personal robot that will make waves in the consumer market as it is released.
To summarize, the Aldebaran Pepper is a humanoid robot that reads human emotion as its primary function. It comes with many recognition features that are utilized in its communication with you. It uses many sensors to ensure use and product safety at all times. It will be available to the general public soon and the availability of this product will increase to close the gap between human and robot interaction. It is a fascinating device that looks like it could be fun to spend face to face time with. It is one of the more interesting personal robots that have been added to the expanding market for this product. Consider the Aldebaran Pepper one of iReviews top rated personal robots to look forward to, and the iReviews top pick for 2015 best personal robot.
